How do I book?
To book your flowers in to be preserved please head over to our Book your Preservation page and complete the booking form.
Do I have to book in advance?
We strongly recommend booking in advance to ensure we are well prepared to receive your flowers and put them into dry as soon as possible. However, we can often accommodate to last minute bookings, please email becky@oshiflorals.com.au as soon as possible to arrange a drop off of your flowers. If your event has passed and you would like to preserve some pre-dried flowers, that is absolutely possible. Please contact us if you wish to preserve your pre-dried flowers.
What is the deposit for?
The non-refundable $150 deposit ensures that there will be space and enough silica gel available to dry your flowers as soon as they arrive. It also ensures that we will be available to receive your flowers and covers the time and admin spent drying your flowers. Without a deposit, we are unable to reserve your preservation as we cannot guarantee we will have space or available silica gel.
How soon do you need my flowers?
We need to receive your fresh flowers as soon as possible after the event. Ideally, a day or two following the event.
Can I post my flowers?
Yes. As it’s vital we get your flowers in to dry as soon as possible, we do prefer to arrange an in-person handover of your flowers however, if this just isn’t possible, you can arrange a courier to deliver your flowers to us.
Where will we hand-over the flowers?
Most hand-overs take place in Port Kennedy. If you are unable to get there, we may be able to arrange an alternative meeting place to hand-over your flowers. This will incur a travel fee and is dependent on our availability.
Can you work with pre-dried flowers?
Yes!
Can all flowers be preserved?
No. There are some flowers that cannot be dried or preserved such as succulents, berries, or spray painted flowers. If your bouquet includes these, we can replace them with artificials for an additional fee.
What exactly is the preservation process?
The preservation process involves extracting all moisture from your flowers using silica gel. Once they are dried, they are reconstructed and reinforced using special glue. This helps to prevent the flowers from falling apart in future. Finally, your flowers will be sprayed with a UV protection spray to prevent fading.
Will my flowers fade over time?
Yes, your flowers will fade over time. How long this takes depends on a number of factors such as the type of flower and the environment in which your pieces are kept. This is inevitable when working with natural material.
What is colour correction/restoration?
Colour correction, or colour restoration, involves your dried flowers being painted back to their original colour (or as close as possible) using a variety of methods. This service is now included in all preservations as standard.
How long does the process take?
We will aim to complete your order within 8 months of us receiving your flowers. Please note that delays in design approvals, receiving the final balance, and how busy we are may delay your order.
Can I choose my layout?
Absolutely! Please feel free to send over any inspiration pictures to help us create your perfect design. We will send over 2 layouts to choose from. Any additional designs will incur an added $25 design fee as they are very time consuming.
When do I need to choose my pieces?
Ideally, we’d like to know what size piece you would like before we receive your flowers. This is to ensure we reserve enough silica gel for your flowers and dry enough of your flowers to fill your chosen piece.
Will you dry my whole bouquet?
Generally, yes. However, this does depend on the size of your bouquet and the pieces you are ordering. If you send a lot of flowers i.e. several bouquets or extra centerpieces we may be unable to dry all of the flowers.
Can I get any unused flowers back?
Unfortunately, we are unable to send any unused flowers back. Rest assured that we will try to use as many flowers as possible. Please be mindful of this when deciding how many flowers you will be sending us to preserve.
How often will I receive an update?
After handing over your flowers, they will be drying for several months. Just before they are due to come out of the drying agent, you will be contacted about design preferences. Once you have confirmed your design and paid your final balance, we will be working hard to get your piece back to you asap. We will do our best to give you updates on your order but welcome you reaching out to ask at any time.
When do I need to pay?
We require a $150 deposit at the time of booking to reserve your preservation. The final invoice is sent along with the designs once your flowers are dried. The final balance is to be paid within 10 days of invoice receipt. We will only commence work once the final balance has been paid in full.
How do I care for my finished items?
Pieces should not be stored in direct light or near heat sources. Glass should be cleaned using an ammonia-free cleaner and a microfibre cloth, wiping in small circular motions. Avoid touching the glass as it marks easily. If you need to touch the glass use cotton gloves. If any petals or foliage drops into the frame, you can either carefully remove the backing or slide the glass out of the frame (some older frames don’t have this option) to remove debris. Please be extra careful if removing the glass as it is sharp.
How will I receive my final pieces?
Pieces are to be collected from Port Kennedy.
How will my finished items look?
We hope that you are in love with your finished piece. We pour so much time and love into each and every piece, but as with all handmade art, there may be imperfections.
How do you take payment?
Payment is made via bank transfer.
What if I change my mind after booking?
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds on your deposit as this covers our admin fees and ensures we have space and the necessary inventory for your flowers. We may be unable to fill your slot and will therefore lose the opportunity to preserve another bouquet.
Please read our terms and conditions for more details.
